A good friend told me about a writing tool called Scrivener. She said it helped Erin Morgenstern, who wrote The Night Circus, compose her first novel. I need all the help I can get, so I just downloaded Scrivener’s free trial. Here’s what they say about their software:

Scrivener is a powerful content-generation tool for writers that allows you to concentrate on composing and structuring long and difficult documents. While it gives you complete control of the formatting, its focus is on helping you get to the end of that awkward first draft.

Oooo! I especially like “its focus is on helping you get to the end of that awkward first draft.” Can it help me un-awkward mine I wonder? Let’s hope.

I’ll report back after the trial ends to let you know if I think the software is worth what they’re charging for it – $40.
