A Harvard study found the following:
“Monounsaturated fat – found in olive oil, sunflower oil, [avocados], nuts and seeds – was better than any other kind of dietary fat for would-be mothers. Those who ate the highest amounts were 3.4 times more likely to have a child after IVF than those who ate the lowest amounts.”
I’ve been tracking my calorie consumption and the percentage of fat and protein I get using
Livestrong’s The Daily Plate. In trying to increase my protein consumption I’ve been snacking on almonds,
flax seed crackers, and peanut butter (which also contain healthy fat). Luckily, avocados are my absolute FAVORITE fruit and I could eat them by the truck load. I love them so much I even used this as my tag line for an online dating profile (long before I met my husband in a bar! haha): “My dream: to have an avocado tree!” Needless to say, I had a lot of hippy types after me.
Every Saturday hubby and I hit up a local farmer’s market where they sell the most scrumptious avocados I’ve ever tasted. This week I’ll be buying 3 instead of 6 (I’ll take any excuse I can get!). If these little babies have the anti-inflammatory properties scientists suspect they do, then I’m betting they’re good for my dreaded endometriosis too.
Thank you to another fertility blogger,
Marwil.org, for mentioning avocado’s benefits in the comments of my last post.
Ha! there you go, thanks for the info, I was about to search for it myself but you beat me to it. I’m not crazy about avocados but I do like them, a lot.
No thank you! I actually think I recall reading this, but for now on, whenever I see something fertility related I’m going to post it here. I even have some stuff on my other blog that I’ll be reposting because it seems pertinent. Amen for sharing knowledge!
